Phonology/Writing System[]

Nigan is a country island created by Shelby Tashay Conner. Niganese is a Hieroglyph-inspired and AAVE-based language created by Shelby Tashay Conner consisting of 3 syllabaries. When writing in the Niganese language, you'll need to understand its writing system[s] including the functional purpose of each syllabary groups because Niganese works kind of like Japanese, for example:

  • Alama: The "Kanji-like" characters used for petro-, picto-, idea- and logographic representations of many meanings, actions, adjectives, state of beings, objects and more. It helps to reduce longer sentences and can represent more letters, syllables, meanings and words than its single-sounded counterparts Fomugana and Kalikana. When used together with Fomugana and Kalikana it can form variant indications, specifications, pronunciations and meanings.
  • Fomugana: The "Hiragana-like" syllabary used for writing Native words, word endings, prepositions, phrases and ad-/verbs.
  • Kalikana: The "Katakana-like" syllabary used for writing non-Native loanwords, onomatopoeic sounds and foreign names.
  • Kirumi: Romanization with Latin alphabets [not English [something similar to Japanese Romaji].
The Niganese phonological structure: The consonants listed here shouldn't be with one another except through Kalikana.
